CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Carolina Panthers defensive back Jarrod Cooper was charged with driving while impaired and reckless driving, then released.

Cooper, 23, was arrested by the state Highway Patrol early Friday. He was taken to the Mecklenburg County jail about 3:15 a.m. EST and released on $1,500 bond about seven hours later.

Cooper, a fifth-round draft pick out of Kansas State, also saw time on special teams last season. He was fined $5,000 in October for fighting during a game with San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Derrick Deese.

It's better than pot and guns or shooting your pregnant girlfriend, but it's still a black eye. Wonder if John Fox is gonna make and example and really crack down on the first screw up since he's been on?
