oh...you have a Hasselblad? so awesome. What do you think of it?
I mean in a perfect world I'd love the hell out of one. The extra money past the Mamiya is a scare-away factor for me.

I used to have an ancient Bronica with a couple of lenses. It was great with the whole upside down and backward viewfinder....make lining up a shot a new experiance. Frankly if I was still doing film I would probably be more interested, but digital has spoiled me beyond belief. Now I just want better glass and a D3S or D3X.

I can't believe what they're getting for their full-frame cameras. You can get a medium format digital kit for $10k retail, Mamiya 645 with their digital back.

Sony's fullframe 24 megapixel body is $2000. And there's a full compliment of new Sony and old Minolta lenses to go with it. I'd love it, and will never need it. I couldn't imagine being four times more for the Nikon.

I really don't need a film medium format camera. I think it'd be fantastic, though, and for special occasions. In the meantime I plan on forcing myself into a film camera to shoot for a while (you can get them for nothing) and then maybe the Mamiya 67. Pretty awesome little deal - big film size, rotating back, huge viewfinder.
You can get a fantastic setup for like $400, which is still more than I need to spend but a whole new world of fantastic shit.
I guess you could go 645 - you could even get AF. I don't see the big deal. At most I might be interested in a meter in the viewfinder, but probably not. Rather have the extra film span.

held an rb67 at SE Camera in Carrboro today, and I'm in love. didn't have the heart to pickup the Asahi Pentax 6 x 7, because that's enough, you know?

More power to you Mags. Going medium was the opposite direction from the one I wanted to go in. I wanted smaller not bigger, something I could keep on the seat and take snaps whenever I wanted to. Using a medium requires more planning and setup than I have the patience for. I`m not going for any works of art, but more of a record of the things that interest me.
Such as this pic of a bike I pulled next to in a bank parking lot.

yeah, it has some limited use. It just looks so fun, though. The way they used to do it. And that huge negative...oh man.
