    Star in the making?

RHP Johnny Cueto dominated the D-Backs this afternoon in his major league debut.
7 Innings, 1 hit, 10Ks, 0 BB (pitched a perfect game for first 5 innings; allowed only 1 baserunner).

He did not get to a 3-Ball count all day. :yikes:

"I was like, 'OK, we'll see.' He wasn't lying." — Orlando Hudson, after being told by Ken Griffey Jr. before the game that Cueto was a 'young Pedro Martinez.'

    Cordero picked up the save.

    Nice job.

Saw the highlights on ESPN, 91-96 all day, not to bad. Isn't Pedro his cousin?

Not sure if he's related to Pedro. There's a lot of comparisons because he's got such good stuff but only 5'10".

Cueto has 3 very good pitches - FB (96 mph), Slider (low 90s) and a very good change-up (86-88 mph). Ex-Reds great Mario Soto is helping him with his change (Soto was "fire and ice" back in the 80s - he could pump it up into the upper 90s and then throw a very deceptive change-up which added up to a bunch of KOs) :whoosh1:

Reds have a nice young rotation in the making. Guess they should hope Dusty doesn't blow their arms out like he did as the Cubs manager a few years ago.

Another quality start for Cueto - his totals through 13.1 innings - 18 strike-outs - 0 walks! (the first player to achieve this feat in his first two starts since 1900)

too early to say he's really good, but he has had a hell of a start. Good control and some nasty movement.
