    What am I doing wrong?

I got the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S650 & took some pics, finally installed the associated software; & now when I try to import the pics from the camera, in the space where it says "Import from," it says "cannot find the source." Tried connecting & disconnecting & re-connecting the camera via the USB. The "Media Check Tool" is set to start every time I restart Windows, so why doesn't it detect the camera when it's connected?

    Any suggestions?

I've always just pulled the media card out and inserted it directly in the computer (or card reader) then copy and paste and you're set.

when you connect the camera to the pc, does a hardware wizard pop up to install the driver? or do you get a small bubble in the system tray saying new hardware found and then something like the device is ready for use? is there a setting on the camera to enable usb connections? did you read the manual?

sorry about the last one. i had to :)

    I AM AN IDIOT.

I should know this, because I have to take photos at work & copy them into folders all the time.

It helps if you turn the fucking camera on when you connect it.

    My first efforts:

Don't screw with the camera. Take the memory card out, put it in a card reader or the computer depending on if the computer has a card reader, if you get a pop up asking you what you want to do click cancel, right click start menu, click explore, windows explorer will open. The computer will find the card reader as a temporary drive. If you have a C, D, and E drive, it will be F. Double click on F, click on DCIM, then MS whatever. Then press shift, click on all the pics, and drag them to whatever folder you want. Then just open them, and edit or delete. If you have any kind of photo editing software, you should be able to open them all as thumbnails and go through them 1 by 1 unil you have edited or deleted all you want.

I don't know if u have a Sony or not, but mine uploads MUCH faster from the card reader/computer than from the camera. Not sure why, but that's why I do it the other way. :46:
