If You Can't Compete, Cheat

    Yet more evidence that we should separate our governing systems. Let people move to the parts of the continent where they can be either represented by democracy or by white guys.

    it's a weird move to make as a single state, but i would prefer that in general, all states were to ditch the winner-take-all approach to the electoral votes.

    actually, obama would have still won.

    61 more votes for romney and 61 fewer for obama would have made it 267 to 271 for obama.

    of course, it probably would have changed how they each campaigned. trying to predict how a contest would have unfolded with different rules in place isn't just a matter of applying those rules after the fact.

    edit: i do think the system should include the popular state-wide vote for the 2 extra electoral college votes rather than awarding them to the person who gets the most congressional districts...

    They could accomplish the same thing by simply ceeding Northern Virginia to D.C. What's turned the state blue is the large influx of government employees.
