    The first one makes sense.

I don't doubt for a second that Fox would go with Williams if he was clearly the better player.

"John Fox prefers veteran running backs"

    Who doesn't?

I just expect Williams to make the most of his opportunity when his chance comes. And you know its coming, its just a matter of when.

I dont doubt Foster will remain #1 on the debt chart till Williams proves himself. I just believe Williams will, sooner rather than later.

All coaches prefer veterans, from QB to long snapper. Anybody who thinks Williams will start the season, barring injury, is wrong.

I would think Smith's value is as high as it will ever get. Why lock him up now?

I agree... let it at least wait another year. Hell I'd worry about Peppers' contract first. That's gonna be a killer. Smitty is at least here a few more years. Keyshawn will take a comple catches away from him at least this year, and maybe one more. He'll still be the main guy but he won't have to be option 1,2,3, and 4. So regardless his numbers will drop some. When that happens he costs a little less money.

He might blow out his knee and never be the same or get in trouble with the law with his temper. No reason to extend him right now.

I don't think we have to worry about that anymore, and I don't think an extension is the worst idea. He is the most dangerous weapon in the NFL, arguably, he's still young, and 2009 isn't too far away. It's not the most pressing need, but I don't see the downside.
