The Bravos exceeded my expectations. They have some solid building blocks for the future. All they have to do is not screw it up. We shall see.

    "
The Atlanta Braves traded for San Diego Padres catcher Raffy Lopez on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced.

Lopez played in 37 games for San Diego in 2018, hitting .176 with three home runs and 13 RBIs.

The 31-year-old Lopez also has played for the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Redsand Toronto Blue Jays since making his major league debut in 2014. He is a career .184 hitter with seven homers and 26 RBIs."

    Why?

    bye-bye?

"ATLANTA -- The Braves did not extend a qualifying offer to any of their free agents, including cleanup hitter Nick Markakis.

If Atlanta had made $17.9 million, one-year offer to Markakis by Friday's deadline, it would have been in line to receive a draft pick if he signed elsewhere. But the team opted against such a move, not wanting to give the outfielder -- who turns 35 this month -- the option of taking such a lucrative deal.

While Markakis was a first-time All-Star who hit .297 with 14 homers and 93 RBI, his production tailed off in the second half of the season.

The Braves also opted against qualifying offers to catcher Kurt Suzuki, starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez, starter Brandon McCarthy, infielder Ryan Flaherty and reliever Peter Moylan. McCarthy has said he plans to retire."

    big whoop

Freeman, Inciarte, Markakis win Gold Gloves

First time in team history 3 Braves earn award in same year

It still pisses me off that they traded Andrelton Simmons mainly because they wanted to give the SS job to Dansby Swanson.
