    Certainly?

That's a bit of a stretch. Most scholars will you tell you they spoke Aramaic... Greek was a popular language of the Roman Empire, but was spoken, not written by most, and certainly not by someone of such a humble background as Jesus, or Peter, who was fisherman.

Now, I'll give you Peter. Per the history, he could read and write Greek. But that hardly qualifies as "most".

Andrew and Simon were both Greek names. Galilee where Jesus was raised and recruited his disciples was a gentile city and Greek was prevalent there. This is archiological fact.

Jesus spoke to many groups and individuals, including Tyre and Pontius Pilot, who would not have known Hebrew or Aramaic.

Alexander conquered the area and made Greek the official language. Greek was also the language spoken by the Eastern Roman Empire.

So actually, if you engaged in any type of commerce at all in the area, fishing, tax collecting, carpentry, and did not speak Greek, you were the exception, not the rule.

There is also NT scripture that says Jesus spoke to "Hellenists".

you've got it backwards. the q source doesn't explain why they tell the same story, it explains why they don't.

no, simon is the anglicized form.

not that any of this really proves anything about what the original language of the nt was...

It tries to explain the differences in one versus the apparent sameness in the other 2. Don't patronize me....I know exactly what the Q theory is.
A non-existent, never mentioned outside of theory document that 'should' exist to explain why 2 gospels have many similarities and the third does not share the same similarities.

It's fascinating how 'scholarly' individuals point to something that has never been scientifically proven to even exist (only exists in theory) to make an attempt to explain away someone's belief.

Petra is Greek, Peter is the anglicized form from English translations.

But carry on with whatever you were saying.....
