Apparently because political conservatives want a Bible that says what they want it to say.

right - but isn't this twisting the bible to what it should not be - more like the Taliban and how they twist their writings to suit them? or a cult?

As Christians, are we not suppose to rail against shit like this? it would seem a christian duty to stomp this out before it is finished?

Throughout history the Bible has been written and rewritten to reflect the wishes of the re-writers, so it's nothing new. The Bible is purely a religious text written by man anyway, so Christians can do whatever they want with it.

and seriously, there's a website called "Conservapedia.com" ? Talk about freakin' paranoia.

Sounds to me like you are pretty uneducated about the history of the Bible.

I could really care less about the history of it. I do know it's a religious text (just like the Koran and whatever the hell Hindus read), written by man, modified / reinterpreted by man over time as is seen fit. For example, see the first post in this thread.
Would conservapedia steer you wrong ?

Here's a link from another pedia. Knock yourself out.

I was thinking Jehovah's Witnesses, but yeah -- pretty much.

That wouldn't be a bad thing to do, no.

My problem is that you said it has been written and rewritten. The Bible is translated from the original Greek texts. In other words, it is not translated from Greek into English and then from English into Spanish.

Second, nothing is being rewritten. It is being translated. Sure, some biases can creep in there, but nothing which substantially changes the major tenets of the religion.

Comparing say the KJV with the Dead Sea scrolls and what we have today is remarkably the same.

Why would I waste my time doing that? If you had actually read the article you would see they are TRANSLATING the Bible. just like I said.
