A lot of this new age crap is "discovering" stuff that's been self-evident to me for decades. I don't think that makes me brilliant by any measure. It's just funny watching eggheads taking the long road to reach basic, common sense. Yes, you should be more aggressive after a takeaway. People who've been following the game for decades understand there's a risk in being conservative, because we've seen the movie play out several times. These nerds are acting like they've discovered a new law of physics.

 

By the way, this term analytics really clouds the fact that measuring tendencies and trends have been bedrocks of great coaching for decades.

It’s still all about player development and managing situations in the moment. Deep dive statistical measurement is better suited for off-season dealings.

 

Putting together smart analysis for consumption is a great thing. But creating 50,000 different versions of what PFF does is a little much.
