You have it backwards. Reid mindlessly kept trying to gun the ball with Alex Smith, despite having the NFL's leading rusher and Travis Kelce being out of the game. It was a masterclass of coaching incompetence by Andy Reid. The thing is, it's not even Alex's fault. He is what he is. It's not Alex Smith's fault that his coach and the media perceive him as being anything other than a game manager. He's an efficient player who minimizes risk, but that style of play comes with a low ceiling in the NFL. Hence the 2-5 playoff record.

So stop making the guy into something he isn't. It's not fair to place unrealistic expectations on a player. If you like him personally, that's great. He seems like a great guy. Just don't keep insisting that he's an elite quarterback. That's fucking asinine and everybody knows it by now.

Never said he was elite. That's a word I never used in the same sentence as AS. I've said that he's my favorite player in the NFL and that he is an upper echelon QB in the league. His team has won the their division 2 years running and this year he threw 26 TD's vs 5 Ints and passed for 4,000 yards. If that isn't upper ecjelon then I don't know wtf is.

This thread was about him being an MVP candidate. That strongly implied that he's an elite quarterback. He isn't. He's a guy I'd love to have as a veteran bridge, but he's not a franchise quarterback. Be realistic about your favorite players. I'm realistic about Cam. Cam is not elite, but he's a perfect fit for the team he plays on.

regardless of Cam's "some dudes on ESPN classification" he definitely should have been MVP that year because the panthers were entirely carried on his back that year and that is a really viable criteria for MVP. Yes, elites like Brady have won it before, and bull-ass run over mutha fuckas like Cam have won it too.
